    The Medical Officer (Emergency Response) will be deployed to Goma, DR Congo, to provide critical medical care in conflict-affected areas. The role involves working in high-risk environments, responding to medical emergencies, and coordinating relief efforts for displaced populations. The successful candidate will collaborate with local health authorities, humanitarian organizations, and emergency response teams to deliver life-saving interventions. This position requires strong leadership, resilience, and the ability to work under pressure in unpredictable situations.

    Job Responsibilities

    1. Emergency Medical Care

      • Provide urgent medical treatment to individuals affected by conflict, natural disasters, and displacement.
      • Stabilize trauma patients and arrange for specialized care as needed.
      • Perform minor surgical procedures and wound management in emergency situations.
    2. Supervision & Coordination

      • Lead emergency response teams, ensuring effective deployment of medical resources.
      • Train and mentor local healthcare workers and volunteers on emergency medical protocols.
      • Coordinate with NGOs, UN agencies, and government health departments to improve response efforts.
    3. Health Assessments & Disease Control

      • Conduct medical assessments for displaced communities, identifying urgent health needs.
      • Implement disease surveillance and outbreak control measures to prevent the spread of infections.
      • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of medical interventions.
    4. Logistics & Resource Management

      • Monitor and manage medical supplies, ensuring sufficient stock of essential drugs and equipment.
      • Collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure timely procurement and distribution of medical necessities.
    5. Community Health & Public Awareness

      • Support health education initiatives, teaching communities about hygiene, sanitation, and disease prevention.
      • Advocate for mental health and psychosocial support for victims of trauma and violence.

  • Educational Requirement

    Educational Requirements

    • Doctor of Medicine (MBBS) or equivalent from a recognized institution.
    • Additional specialization in Emergency Medicine, Trauma Care, or Public Health is an advantage.

  • Experience Requirement

    Experience Requirements

    • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in emergency medicine, trauma care, or humanitarian response.
    • Previous experience in war-zone, refugee camps, or disaster-stricken areas is highly preferred.
    • Familiarity with humanitarian aid operations and experience working with international NGOs is a plus.

  • Additional Requirement

    • Languages: Fluency in English and French is mandatory; knowledge of Swahili is an asset.
    • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in trauma care, first aid, infectious disease management, and medical logistics.
    • Soft Skills:

      • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
      • Strong team leadership and interpersonal skills for working in multicultural environments.

    • Availability: Willingness to work in unstable regions, with frequent travel to field locations.
